11/17/2023 0 Comments Cheap parking new haven train station![]() ![]() Would need to find someone to bring me to Hartford if used them. Looked into CT Limo and it was more expensive than parking at the station and taking the train. It is also acceptable to park overnight, but not in the "open" lot from what I understood. He mentioned it is $6 for a 24 hour period (in the garage), and that, from what he has seen, it doesn't get full during the day (M-F), unless we misunderstood each other. I also called Bridgeport Pro Park garage tonight and the guy was very helpful. Also, as mentioned here and elsewhere, there is a $10 daily fee, which is not bad. Just called the train station parking lot in Stamford (Pro Park) and he didn't mention anything about a subscription (didn't get that far tbh), but he did mention there was a waiting list for the 30 day pass. Unless you purchase a 30 day pass (and I believe you have to purchase at least a six month subscription) it is by the day only. There is no $70 limit on parking at the Stamford Station. Next time try to book flights out of EWR. I found it was difficult to match the train schedule to the plane schedule when using amtrak north of New Haven, but it is possible. The amtrak schedule is much better from\to New Haven. If you can have someone drop you off + pick you up from New Haven this trip will be alot easier. As an added bonus Amtrak is superior to Metro North. Don't need any hassles when I'm leaving for vacation. Personally, i would pay the extra $$$ for amtrak and go direct to Penn Station. Now you could take metro north from New Haven and save a few dollars, but then you have to figure out how to get from Grand Central to Penn Station. I also did it on the weekend so there was less people on the trains. I did this trip last year and it took about 3 hours including waiting time for trains. As an added bonus taking the trains you can avoid the horrible Van Wycke Expressway in Queens. The trains could cost you around $100 round trip which seems like a rip, but consider what parking would cost. LIRR will costs $3.25 one way on weekends or $7.50 one way on weekdays. From there switch to JFK airtrain.Īmtrak roundtrip will cost anywhere from $52 - $75. Take amtrak to New York Penn station, switch to LIRR long island railroad and get off at Jamaica Station. ![]() Altho I don't know if I would want my car there for 2 weeks. You can park for free at Windsor + Berlin amtrak stations. This will work better if you have someone that can drop you off and pick you up at the amtrak station. Consider that when compared to the train alternative below. (used to be $15) if you park at JFK that's a minimum charge of $252 for 2 weeks of parking. FWIW, JFK\LGA\EWR have raised parking rates to $18 per day. take amtrak to JFK, this involves 3 trains, but is still less than parking at JFK. I was wondering the same thing myself a few months ago. I did abit of searching and most of the talk I saw was either day parking or a little weekend parking, never anything longer term such as this. Know there is the CT Limo, but would have to drive to Hartford and find a place to leave car there, which is even more inconvenient. Any ideas?Īm from north of Hartford so it is a little bit of a drive to Stamford, about 90+ minutes. Am OK with the $10 / day fee, but, as always especially in our "wonderful" state, would like to get away with a cost effective route. Since they allow overnight parking figured that would be a good choice. Am travelling light (laptop backpack and small roller carry-on) so have no problems taking train through the city.Īs such, where would a good place to park be? Normally when head to NYC for the day drive to Stamford and then it's a short hop into the city. As such, am leaving out of JFK middle of the week and returning late at night about two weeks later. Am a long time browser and I really enjoy this board.Īm going on vacation and will be gone two weeks internationally. ![]()
